Mr. Todd Wheeles is an exceptional lawyer. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Auburn University in 1995, his Master of Science from Jacksonville State University in 1998, and his Juris Doctorate from the Birmingham School of Law in 2001. Mr. Wheeles currently serves on the Birmingham School of Law Foundation Board.

In 1993, Todd became an Alabama state trooper, where he became proficient in investigating traffic accidents. During his tenure with the Troopers, Todd served in a Special Operations platoon and on the State Trooper Honor Guard. In 1996, Mr. Wheeles joined the Alabama Bureau of Investigations, where he served as a polygraph examiner, a hostage negotiator, and a case agent in the Major Crimes division and was named “Agent of the Year” in 2001.

Todd Wheeles is an active member of the Alabama State Bar, the Alabama Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the Southern Trial Lawyers Association, and the Birmingham Bar Association. He was also appointed to act as Legal Counsel to the Alabama Board of Polygraph Examiners by Governor Bob Riley.

Todd is one of the attorneys on the National Trial Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 list for Alabama, a singular honor. His recent accomplishments include a $239 million settlement in the firearm defect class action, Carter v. Taurus, et al. He also achieved a confidential $7 million settlement in Fulton County, Georgia, a $1.25 million verdict in Etowah County from an unintended gun discharge case, and a $4.5 million verdict in Calhoun County related to a Legionnaires' disease contraction case. Todd Wheeles co-founded the Wheeles Garmon firm in 2023 and has been a partner since 2009, working out of their Birmingham office.
